18 Volcanic Islands

The Faroe Islands consist of 18 rugged volcanic islands located in the North Atlantic Ocean, halfway between Iceland and Norway. The dramatic cliffs, basalt columns, and lush green valleys make it a paradise for nature lovers and photographers.

Population of Around 54,000

Despite their small size, the Faroe Islands are home to about 54,000 people. Most of the population resides in Tórshavn, the capital, while small villages dot the picturesque landscapes. The Faroese people are known for their strong sense of community and cultural heritage.

Sheep Outnumber People

With nearly twice as many sheep as people, the Faroe Islands live up to their name—“Føroyar” translates to "Sheep Islands" in Faroese. Sheep farming has been a vital part of Faroese culture and economy for centuries.

Unpredictable Weather

The Faroe Islands are known for their ever-changing weather—locals joke that you can experience all four seasons in a single day! The islands’ climate is mild but windy, thanks to the Gulf Stream, making it perfect for dramatic cloudscapes and stunning sunsets.

The setting of the home was gorgeous, slightly raised offering a commanding view over the fjord, and the house was fantastic!! Exceeding my expectations. It was very large a full three-bedroom home and was designed with such personality and warmth. This was our favorite place of accommodation in our weeks travel of the Faroe Islands. Our only disappointment was that we never got to meet the host as he was out of the country, but he sounded for caring and warm on the phone.

One of the most incredible stays we’ve ever had. Highlight as everyone has mentioned is that gorgeous glass enclosed area looking out onto the fjord, it was so serene having ou tea and brekky there in the mornings. Fireplace was cosy and the heating throughout the house is strong. The place is massive. Unbelievably well stocked, the host had thought of everything, including power boards. Big bathroom, kitchen and bedrooms. Great shower and pressure. Super comfy mattresses. Kitchen had everything and more that you could need. Location was great for us as a central base to drive to places on the north and south islands. Washing machine with dry rack was a bonus for all our sweaty hiking clothes.

We had a wonderful experience staying in these apartments. They are conveniently located for traveling around the western and northern parts of the Faroe Islands. The apartment has everything needed for a comfortable stay, a cozy terrace with a view of the fjord, a spacious living room with a fireplace and a panoramic window. Special thanks to the host for the hospitality and kindness. Highly recommend!

This accommodation is basically a huge house with 3 bedrooms, 2 bathrooms, and a lot of living room space. The conservatory gives a beautiful view over the bay and gets comfortably warm when it's sunny. The host was very kind and gave us sightseeing tips.

Terje is very warm, friendly and kind person. He gave us lot of information about the Farøyar, the life on those beautiful islands, about the nature and local customs. Staying at Terje was like being at home. The house is big, extremely clean, bright. The beds were very comfortable, the kitchen was equipped with everything, even spices, coffee, …… The living room, big terrace with the view over the fjord. It was so nice and romantic we were awake late at night. It is not only accomodation , it is home! Terje, thankk you!

Beautiful location and very comfortable house. Terje was an amazing host, and went out of his way to help us during a strike that was going on. Definitely recommend staying here.
